With more than 20 years' experience as a consultant, copywriter and graphic designer for nonprofits and businesses, I continue to enjoy working with people making their ideas and visions for the future come to life. While the three may appear to be different fields, they truly go hand-in-hand when presenting solid branding and consistent messaging.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology—the study of people and cultures—from Whitman College, an education which has informed my work with nonprofits and businesses ever since—24 years in Walla Walla, Washington, and seven in Portland, Oregon. What are we if not a culture of people trying to make our visions reality and to make our voices heard?
In the nonprofit world, my two favorite projects have been working as Assistant Director of the YWCA of Walla Walla
and as Program Development Lead for Trilogy Learning Center
(now Trilogy Recovery Community) in Walla Walla, Washington. For the YWCA, I was responsible for grant writing, design and development of collateral and presentation materials through a successful $3.2 million capital campaign, on top of managing annual grant proposals and design for general funds and programs. For Trilogy, working with a group of dedicated volunteers, we developed a small but effective recovery program for youth and their families coming out of drug and alcohol rehab—a gap in support in a growing community. In addition to program development, I handled grant writing and the design and development of collateral material and presentations. Built on this foundation, the program has since expanded and gone on to receive national recognition.
In the business world, there are too many fun projects to name, which keeps my work diverse and interesting. I love the wide scope of projects: Logos, labels and packaging, branding, copywriting, web sites, trade show booths and social media on myriad platforms, as well as web design and media presentations.
Creative diversity is the most incredible and meaningful part of what I do.
and let's get started on building and/or expanding your dream.
"I had the privilege to work with Kate when she agreed to be the event manager for the Lower Nehalem Community Trust’s major spring fundraiser which is a gala dinner event at the Trust’s Alder Creek Farm. She was a delight to work with because she was so well organized, she communicated effectively with our Board, a large array of volunteers, and every vendor. A very successful event thanks to her superb effort. On the heels of that event, the Board hired Kate to work with us as Executive Director. In this role she brought absolute integrity, communication skills, technical skills and knowledge that baffled my mind. Once again her organizational skills and perspectives related to a young and complex not-for-profit land trust were invaluable. I recommend Kate without reservation."

"Kate came to us in our moment of crisis. With her calming guidance we stabilized our staffing and on-boarded the new team. She helped document our processes, create a plan for filling needed roles, and facilitated the interview process which ultimately led to the hiring of our perfect fit manager. Kate’s strengths–professionalism, integrity, and emotional intelligence–compliment her administrative skills and experience. I would hire her again in an instant!”
